Rooted Vermont’s ETHOS IS MORE THAN JUST “BUSINESS IN THE FRONT, PARTY IN THE BACK”

We follow “MULLET PROTOCOL”

Mullet Protocol

“Mullet Protocol” suggests a business in front, party in the back attitude and it defines the atmosphere of fun, inclusivity, and community at the heart of the Rooted Vermont experience. Nationally recognized professionals line up with local legends, gravel enthusiasts, or anyone who is excited to ride bikes on gravel roads (and off-roads) for hours at a time.

Rooted Vermont is committed to building an event culture that represents gender equality on our start line and is a safe, welcoming environment for all cyclists regardless of race, sexual orientation, or experience. Whether you are the “business in front” or the “party in the back”, we line up together, wind our way through the rural Green Mountains, and gather at the after party to celebrate our shared experience.

#MulletProtocol aims to maintain the spirit of gravel, a category of cycling that is a come one, come all, run whatcha brung attitude, rather than one of exclusion or elitism.

The Mullet Protocol Podium is a community initiated text-to-vote contest that goes on throughout the Rooted Vermont weekend and recognizes the people who, through their actions at Rooted, most embody the sense of fun, inclusivity, kindness, and community that make our gravel event a place where anyone who loves bikes belongs.

Scholarship Awards:

A cornerstone of the Rooted Vermont mission is to cultivate an inclusive community atmosphere at our gravel  events. This goes beyond the event “vibe” and aims to directly equip eligible cyclists with the proper gear, resources, and travel stipends to participate.

Cyclists eligible for funding should identify as youth or as someone historically underrepresented in cycling based on race, gender, or identity and for whom access to Rooted Vermont would otherwise be inaccessible without funding.

Applications will be accepted through November 10th and selections will be made based on supporting as many athletes as possible and those who best demonstrate in their application how the opportunity will impact them. Please direct questions to [email protected]
